1. What is a Managed IT Services Provider?

• A managed services provider (MSP), is typically an information technology (IT) services provider, who manages and assumes responsibility for providing a defined set of services to their clients either proactively or as they (not the client) determine that the services are needed. Most MSPs bill an up front setup or Transition and an ongoing flat or near-fixed monthly fee, which benefits their clients by providing them with predictable IT support costs.

• For managed IT services to be of value, you should have at least 10 workstations / end users and at least 1 server.

More than 200, we usually see businesses hire an in house technology executive, but still keep the helpdesk outsourced.

   • Most of not all MSPs will do anything that you would expect an in-house technician or network administrator to handle. Above and beyond day to day support this might include, server refresh projects, creation of an IT roadmap in alignment with your company's strategic objectives, procurement, etc.
